Experimenting with matter and making techniques, her research delves into materials and their cultural significance. In 2007, Anna earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design from ISIA Roma (IT) and received the Arts and Human Research Council (AHRC) scholarship, which allowed her to pursue a Master's in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins in London. During her time in London, she worked as an interior and industrial designer for over a decade. It is a collection of objects assembled from fragments of semi-finished slabs (industrial waste) which have been dumped in the river and transported to the Adriatic shore by the tide.The regular thickness of the granite slabs show the industrial provenance of the rocks, whilst the eroded edges and rough texture show the agency of the sea. How long have these debris been adrift? Where are they coming from? Extracted and discarded by humans, then reshaped by the sea, the debris are carefully collected, cleaned and assembled through capable artisan hands, revealing the entanglements of human and non-human fluxes shaping our world. pictures by @matildestolfa &nbsp; on-going “Deconstruction of an Olive” is an ongoing material research project exploring olive pomace—the by-product of olive oil production—and its potential for designing objects. Situated in Cartoceto, a small village in the Marche region of Italy, the project aims to propose less extractive design practices by connecting local knowledge, small-scale farms, mills, and research. Hypetex is the world’s first coloured carbon fibre brand. It has been developed by engineers from Formula One, with over 20 years experience of working with carbon fibre. The chair follows the modernist rules of form and function with the removal of all unnecessary clutter which is juxtaposed with the decorative aesthetic given by the material. The strength and elasticity of the material allowed a bold aesthetic which would have been unthinkable with other any material or production technique. It takes inspiration from take-hanare, traditional bamboo vases made of bamboo tubes. Each vase consists of two sections, one shallower than the other.
